ABOUT ME
She was born on April 15, 1963, in Gdańsk, as the daughter of Stanisław Stępniewski and Maria, née Burdak. She spent her childhood in Sopot, where she completed Primary School No. 8 named after Jan Matejko, and then went on to graduate from Bolesław Chrobry High School No. 2 in 1982.
From 1983 to 1988, she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk, Faculty of Painting and Graphics, under the supervision of Professor Jerzy Zabłocki, receiving her diploma with honors. Between 1990 and 1991, she was awarded a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture and Art for young artists.
Her work has been showcased in solo exhibitions in Düsseldorf (Germany), Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Bonn (Germany), at the “HI HI TE” Gallery in Toronto (Canada), at the BWA in Sopot (“Between Copper and Blue”), Dwork Sierakowskich (Sopot), Die Galerie in Wilhelmshaven (Germany), and at the Sierakowski Manor Museum in Wejherowo. She has also participated in group exhibitions including “Arte Femenino” in Norderstedt (Germany), “Związki” at St. John’s Church in Gdańsk, and at the VIV ARTIS GALLERY in Sopot (2000/2001).
Her paintings can be found in private collections in Poland (including those of Lech Wałęsa) and abroad: in the USA, Canada, Japan, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, and England.
From 1984 to 2011, she was married to Piotr Bierżyński. Since 2013, she has divided her time between Santa Cruz de Tenerife (during the summer and winter months), Poland, and England. On January 5, 2016, she married Nikolas Richards in England.
